She met her husband Herb, a Waterloo native, when he was stationed in Alaska as part of the 138th infantry division during World War II. Herb died on June 12, 2000. Music has been Mary’s whole life. She took interest in Music around 8 years old and she had a beautiful soprano voice. She served as a music director for St. Paul United Church of Christ for 50 years and taught voice and piano for almost 60 years. In 1947 she became director of St. Paul Evangelical & Reform Church choirs. From 1968-1973 she directed choir of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in St. Louis. She sang solos for weddings & funerals for the last 60 years. Mary moved to Indiana May 2010 with her niece Vicki.
