Charles D. Johnson, 80, of Waterloo, Illinois, died January 5, 2016, in Waterloo, IL. He was born October 17, 1935, in McCoupin County, IL.

    Charlie is survived by his wife Veranna "Toots" Johnson nee Bequette; children Cheryl Hebel, Barbara (Robert) O'Donnell, Terry (John) Ratcliff, James (Sue) Johnson, & Chuck Johnson; grandchildren Amber (Aaron) Dillard, Tifani (Shawn) Beshears, Samantha & Erin Johnson, Alex, Lauren, & Doug Ratcliff, Thomas, Kristen, & Jennifer O'Donnell, & Charles Massie; great grandchildren Seth, Maggie, Frankie, & Amanda (AJ) Dillard, Chloey Hebel, & Ella & Nathan Beshears; brother Dean (Irene) Johnson; & sisters Pat Morton & Judy (Bob) Chilcutt.

    He is preceded in death by his parents Zeph & Anita (nee Coffee) Johnson; brother Gary Johnson; & grandsons Christopher S. Hebel Jr. & Johnny Ratcliff.

    Charlie worked for Anheuser Busch for 35 years, he raced stock cars for over 30 years, and was a lifetime member of Allied Auto Racing Association (he was known as Chargin' Charlie Johnson). He also loved traveling, motorcycle riding, & attending NASCAR races.

    As and expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to: Hospice of Southern Illinois or Donor's Choice.

Visitation:
    4 PM to 8 PM Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Quernheim Funeral Home
    9 AM until time of service Friday 

Funeral:
    11 AM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo, IL
        Father John Kizhakedan officiating.
    Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tipton, IL
