Dorothy A. Rick

Dorothy A. "Dotty" Rick, nee Mentel, 91, of Waterloo, IL, died March 10, 2024, in Waterloo, IL. She was born August 14, 1932, in Valmeyer, IL.

    She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William P. Rick; children Patricia (Gilbert) Birk, Nancy (Monte) Foster, Gregory (Becky) Rick, and David (Wendy) Rick; grandchildren Andrew (Renee) & Matthew (Jennifer) Birk, Nicole (Michael) Morden, Natalie (Nicholas) Smith, Brian (Mallory) and Kevin (Ansley) Rick, and Susan (Jack McMillin) Rick, Todd (Stephanie), Nolan, and Emma Rick; sister-in-law Betty Rick; 14 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

    She is preceded in death by her parents George  & Emma K. (nee Diewald) Mentel Sr.; grandson Michael Foster; brothers George (Lila Mae) Mentel, Robert (Sylvia) Mentel, and Gene (Norma) Mentel.

    Dotty was a member of SS Peter & Paul Church, Mary & Martha Society, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dotty loved children and taught first grade for 22 years. She inspired many young students to become teachers. She enjoyed travel and served as a tour guide.
