Elizabeth D. Conway

Elizabeth D. "Beth" Conway, nee Duryee, 78, of Waterloo, IL, died March 24, 2024 in Waterloo, IL. She was born December 3, 1945 in Queens, NY and married her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Conway in the summer of 1966. In 1982, they moved from Commack, NY to Madison, WI where she focused on her family before losing her husband to cancer in 1988. She moved to southern IL in 2001 to be closer to family and to readily welcome the role of grandma.

    Our mom loved being a grandma, cardinals, springtime flowers, any gift shop, desserts, good seafood, buying things that went “boing!” when she saw them, the ocean, big family meals, doing puzzles, playing games, classic country music, and knowing some day she’d be reunited with our dad. Over the years, Beth enjoyed volunteering her time to various activities, including both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Later in life, she volunteered weekly at the Anderson Hospital Cancer Center in Maryville, IL.

    She is survived by her children Gary (Jen) Conway, and Tricia Conway (Jeff Nyenhuis); grandchildren Trevor and Jered Conway; sister Debi Duryee, along with nieces, a nephew, extended family, and many friends who will miss her dearly.

    Beth is preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Conway, parents John and Dorothy (nee Hall) Duryee, and brother William Duryee.
