Eugene F. Heller, 73, of Waterloo, IL, died July 24, 2022, in St. Louis, MO. He was born August 26, 1948, in Red Bud, IL.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Heller, nee Karsten; children Stephanie Friz and Jennifer (Will) Toenjes; grandchildren Nathan Friz, Victoria Friz, Chase Toenjes, Bryce Toenjes, Abigail Toenjes, Ellie Toenjes, and Peyton Toenjes; brother Donald (Geralyn) Heller; sister Mary Heller; mother-in-law Margaret Karsten; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents George J. & Clara F. (nee Fauss) Heller.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans; a US Army Veteran; and he enjoyed working outdoor, putting up holiday decorations, and spending time with his grandchildren.

As a Vietnam veteran, Gene was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Gene was a hero who survived the Vietnam War in the 101st airborne.

Many love and know Gene also at his job as a custodian at Roger's Elementary for 20 years as well.
