Hazel C. McCarthy, 97, of Valmeyer, Illinois, died December 5, 2015, in Waterloo, IL. she was born December 9, 1917, in Stormlake, IA.

She is survived by her children Allan McCarthy, Joan (Thomas) Smith, Patrick (Jane) McCarthy, and Gertie (Bob) Eshom; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Viola Whelan; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alphonsus J. and Mary C. (nee Harlin) Ruby; husband Daniel C. McCarthy; daughter-in-law Irene McCarthy nee Schilling; and sister Pearl Schaper.

Visitation will be from:

4 PM to 8 PM December 8, 2015 at Quernheim Funeral Home

8 AM until 9:15 AM Wednesday

Funeral Mass will be:

10 AM December 9, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Valmeyer, IL Father Felix Chukwuma officiating

Interment in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in Waterloo, IL

She is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church - Valmeyer, IL and St. Ann Altar Sodality.
