Henry B. Hammonds II

Henry B. Hammonds II, 42, of Waterloo, IL, died October 29, 2023, in St. Louis, MO. He was born January 1, 1981, in Columbia, SC.

    He is survived by his wife of 23 years Katy Hammonds (nee Nicholson), children Piper (Ian), Seth and Aaden; father Henry B Hammonds I; brother Brandon Poe; brother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

    Henry was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Hammonds (nee Themm) and his “favorite” mother-in-law Diane Nicholson (Juelfs).

    Henry was able to be a donor of corneas, skin and bone grafts, heart valves and femoral and saphenous veins.  His selfless decision to be a donor will positively impact the lives of many individuals and families. 

    Henry, aka Bernie, was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He was a hard-working man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a creative, skilled contractor who built many things and helped out anyone who needed it. He would stop what he was doing to help anyone. He put his heart and soul into anything he did for family, friends or work. When he walked into a room you could feel the energy and he had the ability to make anyone laugh or change their mood if they weren't having a good day. Bernie was also the “fun uncle”, taking the kids fishing, camping, playing kickball or whatever fun could be had.

            He will truly be missed by so many.
