James Allen Barbee
James Allen "Jim" Barbee, 96, of Waterloo, IL, died January 29, 2019, at home in Waterloo, IL. He was born October 21, 1922, in Halls, TN.
Jim moved his family to Waterloo in 1961 to take a position with Harrisonville Telephone Company where he retired after 30 years.
Jim, a WWII Army veteran served as an infantry man in North Africa and Italy where he was wounded and awarded the Bronze Star among other medals.
He is survived by his wife Martha Barbee of Waterloo; 2 children James F. Barbee of Kansas City and Cherry (Les) Horn of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren Gretchen (Bryce) Turnbull, Matt (Kara) Horn, and Jennifer (Nick) McKenzie; and 3 great grandchildren.
Private funeral at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery at a later date..
I got to know Jim at Poetkers. And come to find out we were related and from them on he called us his kin folk.

I shall miss uncle James. He used to look out for me as I made my way home from school in first grade and he bought me my very first ice cream cone, black walnut. I was ecstatic. That was over 70 years ago and I have never forgotten. It is a memory I cherish. Rest In Peace, Uncle James.
