Janet L. May, nee Waite, 67, of Waterloo, IL, died January 29, 2026, in St. Louis, MO. She was born August 17, 1958, in E. St. Louis, IL.

Janet was a loving wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was incredibly proud of her family and poured her love into them in countless ways.A strong woman with a kind heart, Janet taught her daughters to be independent, resilient, and confident. She was known for her warmth, her humor, and her beautiful smile that could instantly brighten a room. Janet had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved, whether through laughter, conversation, or simply being present.

She enjoyed reading, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, a reflection of how much she valued togetherness. One of the most meaningful days of her life was her wedding day, a memory she held close to her heart. Janet had a deep love for music—especially rock, pop, and disco—and she loved going out to dinner with those she cared about, with Red Lobster always being a favorite. She also enjoyed playing games and was well known for her strong dislike of onions.

Janet is survived by her beloved spouse, Lawrence May; her children, Jennifer May (Justin Cardwell) and Lindsay Bucklew (Doug); her cherished grandchildren, Wyatt, Ryker and Wilhelmina; her siblings, Karen (Floyd) Erb and Michelle (Leroy) Snow; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Janet’s love, strength, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on through the family she loved so dearly.
