I was saddened to visit Washy's last night and learn of Jack's passing. He was such a kind, funny, and genuine person. I met him 17 years ago when I was a young bartender at Gruchala's. He was patient with me and friendly to everyone. I was very impressed by his gift at remembering birthdays! He so generously bought my eight year old and me our meal the last time we were in there.
His personality was a virtue, and he will be missed by all who knew him. My condolences to the family.

Jack was only an acquaintance but I really enjoyed talking to him over breakfast. Always had a smile and welcomed you in to Washy's like you had been a friend for life. I'll certainly miss him.

An engaging smile and a friendly greeting were his stock in trade. He was a person you were always glad to see, because he always had a kind word and a charming story.
