Joyce A. Ryan

Joyce A. Ryan, nee Strange, 83, of Waterloo, IL, died January 5, 2024, in Waterloo, IL. She was born March 21, 1940, in Eldon, MO.

    She is survived by her children Jim (Sharon) Ryan, Patrick (Diane) Ryan, Kenneth (Holly) Ryan, and Matthew (Lorren) Ryan; grandchildren Bryan (Kelsey), Justin (Tonya), Jacob (Rachel), Brandon (Angeles), Sarah (Lance), Nicholas (Emily), Benjamin, Katherine, and Joseph; great grandchildren Dannae, Winston, James, and Oliver; brother William (Elizabeth) Strange; sisters Carolyn (Kenneth) Krupp and Deborah (Dennis) Patterson; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

    Joyce is preceded in death by her husband James H. Ryan; parents Garland Eugene & Leona Margaret (nee Iven) Strange; brother Mark Strange; and sisters Mary Catherine, Jean Strange, and Joan Strange.

    She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

    She was an expert at word games, loved playing Wild Card Rummy and had a life long love affair with books and fashion. 

    She could be found on  the edge of her seat as she watched Kentucky Basketball, Wimbledon, and Cardinals Baseball. As a young mother, she was very athletic and actively participated in a local bowling league, played golf, and enjoyed tennis. Along side her sweetheart, she loved watching her sons and grandchildren play and participate in their favorite sports.
