Marlene Clara Wittenauer

Marlene Clara Wittenauer nee Koch, 89, of Waterloo, IL, died September 12, 2015 in Waterloo, IL, at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo. She was born March 13, 1926 in E. St. Louis, IL.

 

She is survived by her children Jacki Fisher (Mike) of Houston, TX; Judy Haberl (Chris) of Waterloo; Jeanne Steinbrenner of Rochester, NY; Jerry Wittenauer (Kris) of Waterloo; Janet Mullarkey (Terry) of Phoenix, AZ; and Jeff Wittenauer (Stacy) of St. Charles, MO. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her example of quiet, unconditional love will remain in them always.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob & Emily (nee Janson) Koch, beloved husband Eugene E. Wittenauer whom she married on Jan. 29, 1947, in East St. Louis, and who died on April 12, 2010, in Waterloo, & brother Donald Koch.

 

Visitation will be at Quernheim Funeral Home from 3 PM to 8 PM Friday September 18, 2015 and from 9 AM to 10 AM Saturday.

 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday September 19, 2015 at SS Peter & Paul Church Waterloo, IL with Father Osang Idagbo C.M. officiating and burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Hecker, IL.

 

Marlene was a wonderful homemaker, quilter, cook, listener, and mother. She was an active parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish in Waterloo, and formerly St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish in Hecker, IL. Her whole life centered around her Catholic faith, her family, and making others happy. She was a model of love and kindness to all who knew her.
