Melvin C. Allscheid, 88, of Waterloo, IL, died September 23, 2026, in Waterloo, IL. He was born September 22, 1938, in Waterloo, IL.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Allscheid (nee Wetzler); children Eric (Cindie) Allscheid and Karla (Aaron) Metzger; grandchildren Josie (Jeremy) Fischer, Callie (Ashton) Hopper, Cassie Allscheid, Krista Allscheid; sister Yvonne Lammert; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Albert J. and Nelda C. (nee Nottmeier) Allscheid; sisters Darlene James, Jeanette (Ronald) Lentz and brother Virlyn "Buddy" Allscheid; sisters-in-law Dixie Allscheid nee Davis and Janice Allscheid (nee McDowell); brother-in-law Rich Lammert.

He was awarded the Illinois Archaeology Public Service Award from Washington University; member of Operating Engineers Local #520; loved to hunt, fish, and do things outdoors; and a former member of the Illinois National Guard.
