Michael L. Glessner, 77, of Waterloo, Illinois, passed away on June 29, 2026, surrounded by family in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on June 24, 1949, in Red Bud, Illinois, to Robert and Lucille (Metzger) Glessner.
Mike dedicated his professional life to Metzger Equipment Company, where he served as co-owner and built lasting relationships with customers, employees, and the agricultural community.
Mike was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, where he volunteered his time in service to his church community for many years. He was also a life member of the Waterloo VFW Post #6504, maintaining over 50 years of membership. Mike was a member of the Waterloo Sportsman’s Club, Genealogical Society, and Coon Lake Fishing Club.
An avid outdoorsman, Mike found great joy in hunting and fishing. He was a talented woodworker who enjoyed creating projects and toys for his grandchildren, and had a passion for researching his family’s ancestry, preserving his family’s history for future generations. Above all else, Mike treasured his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest pride.
Mike is survived by his children, Sarah (Matthew) Ulrich, Christine (Brian) Bise, Robert (Heather) Glessner, and Susan (Mark) Bonk; his grandchildren, Owen Ulrich, Brayden and Noah Bise, Alexander, Franklin, Wesley, and Lena Glessner, and Lucas and Carter Bonk; his sister, Mary Waterman; his brother, James (Ursula) Glessner; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Glessner (née Drummond) of 50 years; his grandson, Michael Bernel Bise; and his parents, Robert and Lucille Glessner (née Metzger).
