Monica S. Paul

Monica S. Paul, nee Frederick, 56, of Waterloo, IL, died August 1, 2020, after a long, hard battle with cancer, in St. Louis, MO. She was born October 8, 1963, in Belleville, IL.

Monica worked at Mercantile Bank for years and then later transitioned to work at Waterloo High School as a paraprofessional, assisting children with disabilities. It was there that she was able to truly use her attributes.

Monica enjoyed spending time on Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO with her family. She loved her pets. She was a very devoted and loving mother, staying at home between careers to care for her children.

Monica loved people, she was a stranger to no one and had an affinity for children. She spread kindness to everyone she knew and instilled the same compassion in everyone she associated with.

She  is survived by her husband Charles Paul; children Jessica (Tyler Wetzler) and Olivia Paul (Michael Krygiel); and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son Maxwell "Max" F. Paul; parents George and Verna (nee Spaeth) Frederick; brother Kevin “Muggs” Frederick.

Hope this little funny story makes you smile.. My husband and I met Monica and Chuck at lamaze class in 1991, when we were both pregnant with our daughters. I was squirming during the childbirth film and later Monica had mentioned to me that she saw mw fidgeting and wondered if I could handle it lol. The instructor said we could bring a sock with tennis balls in it to the hospital with us while in labor. Asked if anyone knew what it was for and my husband trying to be funny had an off comment for the answer, Chuck I'm sure you remember, and Chuck laughed and Monica elbowed him. We sent Christmas cards over the years and then loss touch. Please accept our condolences and know you are in our thoughts. Rest in peace Monica.

ohh myyy....so much sorrow...my heart is so heavy to hear of Monicas passing....She was a strong amazing woman....such a kind teacher who went above and beyond for each student she was assigned to...such a joyful spirit and presence at WHS...such a remarkable mom to all of her cildren, but particularly Max...and a mom to each of the young people that came over and spent time with Max at their home...My prayers go to Chuck and the girls....
I will never forget her heart and her ability to confront kids that wouldnt listen to anyone else. I will. Ever forget her Summer Beach, Halloween, Easter, St. PTricks Day Christmas tree that she never failed to redecoratefor each season...
