Norene Elizabeth Becker, nee Sommer, 95, of Waterloo, IL, died April 15, 2026, in Waterloo, IL. She was born April 10, 1931, in Waterloo, IL.

She is survived by her children Barbara (Don) Hesterberg, JoAnn (Gerry) Munger, Steve Becker. Michael Becker, Mary Becker, Dorothy (Jim) Spiller, Anthony Becker, Bernard Becker, and Collin (Teri) Becker; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters and brother Mary Catherine Wallace, Richard Sommer, and Dorothy (Chris) Homeier; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter S. Becker; son Bill Becker; grandson Cory Becker, Billy Becker (in infancy); parents Joseph A. and Octavia (nee Haberl) Sommer; sisters and brother LaVerne Diekemper, Ruth Sommer, Jeanette Theobald, Robert Sommer; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.

She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Church in Waterloo, IL.

She fell in love with Walter and they married on June 7, 1950. They had 10 children together.

Norene was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed reading and learning new things as much as she could. She appreciated everything from a talented designer to a new medical discovery. She was always in amazement. You could often find her whistling in her garden, admiring her plants, for she had an evergreen thumb. Above all, Norene loved spending time with her family.

She saw the best is everyone and every situation. Her positivity and love of everything made her a joy to be around. Her spirit truly was contagious. All who knew her loved her.

Norene would end this by saying- "don't forget your prayers"
