Pollie Ruth Woods

February 12, 1932 — March 10, 2026

Columbia, IL

Pollie Ruth Woods, age 94 stepped into the presence of her beloved Jesus on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026.

Pollie, one of 16 siblings, was born to John Henry and Isa Roe Centers on February 12, 1932, in Menefee County, Kentucky, where she spent her childhood years helping her family on their tobacco farm. Later in life she made her way to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she married Russ Hambrick. She eventually would commit her life to Christ and became a devoted church member and powerful prayer warrior. Her husband Russ would eventually follow her example and asked Jesus into his heart and life two weeks before he passed away in 1967. After Russ' death Pollie worked hard, becoming an expert at sewing, to provide for her four children. She eventually found her career position at General Motors Corporation, sewing seat covers for cars and retired from there. She would later meet and marry John Woods and was with him until his death. Pollie continued to live on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids Michigan with her son Mike until the fall of 2024 when she moved in with daughter Trema and her husband Dan in Columbia, Illinois where she spent the remainder of her days. She never wavered from her devotion to Christ and served Him faithfully on this earth until experiencing the thrill of being in His presence.

Pollie was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Centers and Isa Roe Centers, her first husband Russ Hambrick, her second husband John Woods, Daughter Linda Sue Dobrygoski, son-in-law James Dobrygoski, son Tony Centers, and eleven siblings: brothers Mason, Henry, Victor, sisters Delores, Martha, Grace, Georgie, Etta, Netta, Mabel, and a baby sister Elvie who only lived a short while.
