Richard Allen Noelken, 100, of Waterloo, IL, died June 13, 2026, in Waterloo, IL. He was born March 13, 1926, in St. Louis, MO.
He was a life long resident of Monroe County and served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific theater.
While stationed in Manila, Richard had the honor to witness the address of General Douglas McArthur marking the beginning of the Independent Republic of the Philippines.
Richard always had a passion for automobiles and took great pride in the presentation of all his cars.
He also had a fascination with science and technology, surfing the web on his laptop well beyond his 90th birthday.
Always a man of faith, Richard served as Deacon Emeritus of Concord Presbyterian Church and later attended Hope Christian Church.
Richard is survived by his children Linda Marie (Ron) Polka and David Allen (Caryl) Noelken; grandchildren Carrie Ann (Keith) Fann, Michael John Noelken, great grand children Kaitlyn Marie Fann, Christina Elizabeth Fann, Gabriel Noelken and Finnigan Noelken.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Marion Noelken nee Pohlmann; grandson Gregory Stewart Noelken; and parents John and Elenora Elizabeth (nee Hagemeier) Noelken.
As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to:
House of Neighborly Service or Monroe County Christian School Building Fund.
Richard gifted his body to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
