Rosalie M. Ries, nee Shondy, 86, of Waterloo, IL, died August 26, 2026, in Waterloo, IL. She was born May 13, 1940, in East Carondelet, IL.
She is survived by her daughters Cindy Jones, Carol (Chris) Howell, and Cheri (Mark) Angel; grandchildren Michael (Kris Kennedy) Jones, Patrick (Amanda) Jones, George (Brittany) Jones, Kevin (Katie) Jones, Jessica (David) Shevlin, John (Natalie) Howell, Chad Angel, and Melanie (Austin) Stumpf; great grandchildren Carson, Owen, and Ian Jones, Ellie and Evan Jones, Lane, Lydia, and Leah Shevlin, Heston & Hadalyne Howell, Roland and Amelia Stumpf; brother Kenneth (Debbie) Shondy; nieces and nephews, Rick (Dee) Doerr, Beth (Jeff) Donald, Patti (Phillip) London, Christy (Todd) Wetzel, Andy (Kristy) Shondy, and A.J. (Kimm) Shondy; sister-in-law Loretta Vogt; special cousins: and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Ries (of 66 years); son-in-law Terry Jones; parents Floyd and Gertrude (Weisenborn) Shondy; and sister Pauline (Richard) Doerr.
Rosalie was a member of Monroe County Farm Bureau, where she served 13 years as chairman of the Women’s Committee. She was the first woman to serve on the Farm Bureau Board. She also was the District 16 Women’s Committee delegate to the State Farm Bureau Board. She also loved sewing and making crafts to share with family and friends.
As a member of Zoar United Church of Christ, she served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. She sang in the church choir for many years.
She was a lifelong member of Monroe County Extension HCE and a past 4-H leader.
