Steven (Steve) John Fry passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 15 2025 in St. Louis Missouri, Steve was born on August 19 1973, the oldest son of Connie (Bruce) Wibbenmeyer. A talented artist, he created beautiful drawings and paintings for his family and friends. Steve met his “person”, Kari Trankle, (daughter of Joe and Kathy Trankle of Waterloo Il), and out of their love, their amazing son Drake Fry was born on a New Years Eve (December 31st) in 2008. The love, the admiration, and the pride he felt for his son Drake, was just something Steve strongly projected. Steve was a devoted father to his son Drake, who radiates all the best parts of Steve in every way. Also surviving is his daughter Reagan Posey-Mank.
Steve was as loving and kind as he was talented and funny. Also a gifted musician, he very much enjoyed sitting around a bonfire with good friends, playing his guitar. One of his prized possessions and favorite hobby was his gas powered bike, Steve found happiness in tinkering with his bike and very much enjoyed his peaceful bike rides down a quiet back road or thru the busy streets of town. Steve built a wide circle of close friends and acquaintances, there isn't a person near or far that didn't know Steve.
Tragedy ran as deep as love in Steve’s family due to a rare blood disorder. Before Steve’s diagnosis, he was preceded in death by his Grandfather Joseph Fry and Grandmother Helen Otradovec. To his living brother, Jeff (Mandy) Herring. To his living sister Amber Mcdonald (Mike Shevlin), a source of joy and a source of comfort. To his living Step-Brothers Adam (Katie) Wibbenmeyer and Alex (Bridget) Wibbenmeyer, beloved uncle niece Haleigh Herring (Steven Forrester), beloved uncle to nephews Taylor (Kaitlyn) Lloyd, Tanner Fry, Lucas Herring, and Bryce Herring. GREAT uncle to nephews, Townes Lloyd and Kyson Forrester and nieces, Emliee Wibbenmeyer and Mackenzie Edwards. Steve was always his nieces and nephews biggest cheerleader. Steve was also the beloved Nephew of Carla (Ricky) Sinclair, Cheryl (Scott) Burger and Joseph (Anne) Fry. Besides those named, the departed leaves behind a wide circle of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Steve loved music, music brought him joy, peace, and tranquility. Steve loved his son deeply. He was not just a father- but a best friend. He loved spending time with his son and beamed with pride from the side lines, watching Drake play football. To his niece and nephews Steve was the one who always showed up. To his brother and sister, Steve modeled somewhat of a father figure to them both, he was definitely their ride or die. To his mom, Steve was a confidant, her first born, her first love. The family is profoundly grateful to his family and close circle of friends, for their unwavering and generous support during Steve’s illness. This support - along with Steve’s remarkable strength and good spirits throughout - were the rare silver linings of this tragedy. Steve's family would like to thank everyone that has kept Steve in their thoughts and prayers.
